Contemporary artist, media producer, photographer
BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1990 in Kuibyshev, USSR.
In 2008-2010 she studied at the Samara photography school on a digital photography course.
In 2010, she began to engage in journalism as a freelance photojournalist for print and web publications, published in the magazines "Russian Reporter", "Big City", "Takie dela", Slon.ru, and others.
In 2012, a few months worked as a photography teacher in a city school in India.
In 2013 Trained in art management in Amsterdam, and participated in the preparation of exhibitions in the framework of the cross-year of culture Russia-Holland.
In 2014-2016 worked as a photo editor at the "Kommersant" Publishing House.
In 2016 the first personal photo exhibition “Mother's Power” took place at the Sakharov Center in Moscow.
From 2016 to 2018, she headed the video department of the media startup Center for Investigation Management.
From 2018 to 2020 she worked as a video producer at MBK Media; for a story about a nuclear repository in Moscow that won the "Editorial Board" Award.
In 2020-2023 studied at the Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia.
Won the contest the "Fighting Corruption with Art" contest 2022 both the vote of the visitors of online exhibition and the vote of the professional judging panel.
Took part in an exchange program, the "Journey of Shared Discovery for Russian and American Journalists" from ICFJ (The International Center for Journalists). The program included meetings with newsroom editors in Washington (Voice of America, Politico), in New York (The Financial Times), and a volunteer assignment of two weeks at WAMU 88.5.

HOW MOTHERS OF SPECIAL CHILDREN "WIN" THE STATE

The Sakharov Center opened the exhibition "The State of Moms". The photographs show the stories of women who are raising children with special needs. They did not wait for help from the authorities and solved problems in their families, and at the same time in many other families. Rain retells some of these stories.

The best example of screenlife journalism and the use of these techniques was the May material MBH media about the life of Russian-speaking heroes abroad during the pandemic and about the changes the coronavirus has made to the most ancient rituals of our lives: weddings and funerals.
We talked with project producer Anastasia Kulagina about the narrative possibilities of the format in journalism and tried to understand whether it will stay with us after the quarantine.
